Abstract

Although self-directed learning theory originally emerged from the field of adult learning, lifelong learning skills are believed to be crucial in (vocational) education as well. 600 students (10-12 years old) filled out two questionnaires to measure self-directed learning and perceived organizational support (i.e., shared Strategy, scope and social Support). The results show that the perceived level of self-directedness can be measured in this way with younger children and that self-directed learning and perceived organizational support correlate.
